I know we have probably all heard at some point or another that you need to be utilizing an email list and I am here to tell you why it’s so necessary. I know it may just seem like one extra thing to add to your list, but I promise it’s worth it. A lot of people do not understand the importance of an email list as a small business owner or blogger so I’m here to make those reasons known. Continue reading for my reasons to build an email list.
4 Reasons to Build an Email List
You have complete ownership over your email list
Unlike social media sites, you have complete ownership and control of your email list. You have direct access to your readers inbox that no algorithm can mess with so you can ensure that your content and offers are always getting seen.
Of course, you still want to grow your social media following, especially if you’re a social media manger like me, but your email list is a heck of a lot more reliable than any social media platform due to their constant changes.
Pro tip: Get a branded email address with Google or another site so your emails have less of a chance of ending up in people’s spam folders.
You can dig deeper with your email list
Personally, I am a little more open with my email list than I am with my blog readers just because I feel like it’s a more personal outlet than my blog or social media channels. I am more likely to offer my email list special discounts on products and services just because they have taken that extra step to allow me to access them further. So if you’re not already signed up for my email list, what are you doing?
You have access to more insight from your ideal clients
Having an email list allows you to get a little more insight on what your ideal client wants from you. You can analyze your open rates and click throughs to see exactly what content your audience is just craving. You can even conduct surveys for future products or services to gauge interest so that when you’ve officially launched them, you know that they are something your audience wants and your product or service won’t be a total flop.
You have the ability to build the like, know, and trust factor
If they are willing to give you access to their inbox even though they are probably bombarded with hundreds of other emails each day, then that means they are more likely to buy your products or services in the future. Being able to email them once a week or so gives you the ability to build the like, know, and trust factor with your audience more so than just a few blog posts.
