Being a solopreneur can be stressful at times because you’re not only the owner of the business but you’re also the marketing person, the salesman, the accountant, and more. Since it’s overwhelming to run a business solo, I thought I’d take the time to share some of the 11 best tools for running your business. I’m sure you’ve heard of at least a few of these, but I hope to introduce you to a few new ones you haven’t heard of before as well.
11 Best Tools for Running Your Business
ConvertKit // If it wasn’t for ConvertKit, I wouldn’t have a welcome sequence or my free Pinterest email course up and running. ConvertKit makes my life so much easier by automating my welcome sequence and sales funnels. Of course, these took time to set up initially but once they’re finished, I set and forget them until it’s time to reevaluate. In addition to my sequences and email courses, I also send out weekly content to those on my email list. ConvertKit helps me see how each email is performing by giving me the open rates, click rates, and other analytics with each email sent out.
Alternative: MailerLite or MailChimp
SmarterQueue // SmarterQueue is honestly one of the best social media schedulers that I’ve found. I use it to schedule my tweets and FB posts and it has been an absolute lifesaver. I also use it to schedule my posts in any FB group that I am an admin of. It re-queues your posts so you do not have to worry about re scheduling them again further down the line.
Hootsuite // I use this to schedule my new posts on Twitter. It’s free and an awesome tool for scheduling your social media. I use this at my day job to schedule both Twitter and FB. It’s very easy to use.
Boardbooster // This is probably one of the best tools for running your business of the bunch, at least in my opinion. It completely automates my Pinterest account for me. All I had to do was go in and set up everything once and from then on out, it does it automatically for me. Tailwind // I use this tool in conjunction with Boardbooster because Tailwind has a cool feature called Tribes that is awesome to use to find content in your niche to pin. I also schedule pins on here sometimes as well but not as frequently as on Boardbooster.
Plann // Plann has revolutionized Instagram for me. It’s a $15 one time fee but it helps me plan out my Instagram feed each week and I can go in there and schedule my content to go out at a specific time each day. The only bad thing about Instagram planning apps is that they do not actually post for you – they just send you a notification when it’s time for you to post but that’s because apps that manually post for you are against Instagram’s terms of service.
SiteGround // SiteGround is where Confetti Social and my lifestyle blog, Breakfast at Lilly’s are both hosted. They have absolutely amazing customer service and are really accommodating to your every need. I have contacted their customer service with the silliest of questions and everyone has always been really helpful. I surely couldn’t run my business without SiteGround.
Asana // Asana is basically my lifeline. I keep track of all of my client work there in addition to my own personal to-do list. I’ve shared why it’s integral to use Asana for your business before and still think that every small business owner should be using a project management tool and Asana is my tool of choice.
Trello // I’ve been trying to learn how to use Trello recently. I had used it awhile back for work, but I want to learn how to utilize more efficiently to even further organize my business because I know I’m going to need it once things start picking up.
Freshbooks // This is the system that I use to keep track of all of my finances including invoices and expenses. It is an easy to use tool and they offer a free 30 day trial and after that, it’s $20/month so it’s relatively affordable. They also allow you to accept PayPal payments which makes my life so much easier.
Acuity // Acuity is what I use to schedule appointments with potential clients. It allows me to get them set up on my calendar and also requires them to fill out a quick intake form prior to scheduling. This helps me get a better idea about what they’re currently struggling with on social media before we talk on the phone.
